YVES TUMOR LICKING AN ORCHID (FEAT. JAMES K)

Turin-based Warp signee Yves Tumor has just revealed a starkly original offering that combines sensual minimalist pop with abrasive white noise. The suggestively-titled 'Licking An Orchird' begins rather like one of Dean Blunt's neo-classical lo-fi masterpieces before a reverb-heavy drum loops hits and Tumor's intoxicating doubled vocals bring the track to life. Exploring themes of intimacy and sadness as the opening verses pleads, 'I wanna be the one to hold you closer than you ever have before, so call it, don't call it torture, maybe I enjoy it, please come home'. Singer James K (Jamie Krasner) adds another level of bittersweet melancholy as her smoky, dulcet tones dominate the second half of the track after a dramatic interval of intense noise. Also, if you're based in the US, you might be lucky enough to catch Yves Tumor supporting Blood Orange starting from the 26th of September in New York. -Holly Mullineaux
